Seremban Siew Pow In IPOH (?)

Since Seremban's pretty far , these local morsels of goodness will do ...

Choose your own delights from the glass display

There is a shop, or rather a stall, selling seremban siew pow, and various other pastries located around town area. They have been in business since I was in primary school, or probably before that, as I remember frequenting this stall with my mother while waiting for my father to finish his work at a hotel nearby. (Incidentally, he changed job a few times, and the hotel has even gone out of business. There's no denying the long lasting appeal of this small stall) =P

The location of the stall, behind a coffee shop

Taken through my car's windscreen, better turn before it's too late ...

Not sure of the road's name, but driving along Jalan Raja Musa Aziz, from the Taman Dr Seenivasagam's roundabout, you'll pass by Klinik Kesihatan Greentown and UOB bank on your left. Go further and you will see the above pic of Restoran Dan Hotel New Lee Kong. Turn right at the junction above. The stall is right behind (or beside) this coffee shop-cum-motel. The Seremban Siew Pow stall is directly opposite Pizza Hut, and situated behind KFC.

They sell a variety of pastries, such as pineapple tarts (RM1 each), Salted Egg Cookies, puffs and whatnots, aside from their signature Siew Pow. My personal favourite is the pineapple tarts. Though slightly pricey at RM1.00 each, and the portion is bite-sized, the generous filling of pineapple jam is not too sickeningly sweet, and the pastry is just right, not too crumbly (is there such a word?) nor too hard.

Yummy Pineapple Tarts

The Seremban Siew Pow's quality is maintained after all these years, though the price has been increased slightly to RM1.10, the pure pleasure of sinking one's teeth into the fragrant pastry, and delicious meat filling is incomparable. Perfect as a tea time treat. Don't ask me to compare these to REAL Seremban's products, as I've never tried them before. (Probably will, someday down the line ...who knows?)

When they first started business, the pows were good. But never went back after that (no cravings for siew pow)
