Since reading various posts by other floggers on The Loaf's amazing Japanese-style cheese-cupcakes, I knew I had to try them someday. Ladies & gentlemen, D-Day has arrived, in style.
??? Orange - Forgot the full name, but citrus-y, tangy, and sweet. (3.5/5)
Durian Obsession - Probably the most obnoxious/smelly/fragrant/flavourful of the lot, sure to attract durian-lovers. The soft, crumbly layer on top has an uncanny resemblance to pavlova/meringue texture. (4/5)Tangy Lemon - The plain Jane of the pack. Slight hint of lemon aftertaste. (3/5)
Refreshing Longan - Bland, with a pair of longan fruits embedded underneath, but the crunchy almond flakes save the day. (3.5/5)
Glitzy Strawberries - Presentable, dazzling, albeit stingy pistachio bits, no doubt the superstar of the lot, stealing the limelight from the otherwise dark/gloomy/pale colours of the others. Sweet, typical strawberry jam flavour. (4/5)
Luxurious Chocolate - Luscious, decadent, not run-of-the-mill type of cocoa powder. Possible best of the lot. Simple, but got the job done. (4.5/5)
A saving grace, after the Alexis episode. RM5 per piece, but BUY 5 FREE 1 promotion. Get them while they're still around. Various flavours available for picking. Sweet tooth FINALLY satisfied. Time to move on to some meatier deals in following posts .... G'nite. v_v
Location : The Loaf @ Lot 3.13.00 on 3rd floor of Pavilion, 168, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur.

Those are the ratings for every u hu hu! I have tried the green tea and another flavor...forgotten which 1...not bad but a bit on the pricey side.
This shop is opened by our 'beloved TUN DR M if I am not wrong or if the sources where I got the info are reliable.
Haha..Finally u have tried the cakes!Told u it was nice rite =P. U shud have mention abit on Dr.M owning the shop ma..That's why the stuffs there are super expensive to accomodate his love for super expensive projects!Well, if u want me to compare the price for a cheesecake @Secret Recipe vs U Hu!Hu!, i will go for the latter one!Thumbs up!
great shots! i love the myriad of colors:) one thing tho.. seems like everyone is jumping on that "durian flavoured" bandwagon.. not being a fan, u can imagine how id steer clear of that flavour.. lol:P
Hey, all the capcakes look tempting, can't wait to try them. I really like Japanse style cheesecake, it's soft and not over cheezy. Will give it try during my coming trip to KL :)
This reminds me of Cupcake Chic at The Curve.
Oh my goodness!!!!!!!!
Why can't I find all these in The Loaf Langkawi??? :(
KL folks are very lucky indeed...able to try out so many various types of snacks, cakes and pastry.
kca : they're my personal ratings, as what Victor said. Buy 5 Free 1, means RM4 per pc, definitely cheaper than Secret Recipe's RM6.30 cheesecake.
Victor : yeah, the 1st was in Langkawi, this is the 2nd branch I believe.
MBoy : yeah, I thought many would've known The Loaf somehow is related to www.chedet.com ... =P
cumi & ciki : oh, but for me, anything 'stinking' of durian aroma is a plus!
min : yeah, and I still rmbr how you baked one, and I had none. =(
jason : Looks like them, the price is the same for half dozen, but Cupcake Chic is after all, cupcakes. but these fluffy babies got my vote!
NKOTB : I also thought these are a temporary promo items, but think the response is overwhelming, they plan to prolong the promotion.
CKLam : yeah, living standard higher than here in Ipoh, but KL-ites are luckier as restaurants/cafes/bakeries are blooming like mushrooms after rain.
oooh... victor is here oso.. haha.. hi, victor.. :)
i haven try the orange and refreshing longan...hw was the taste for orange good?? i wish to try this!!
ck
kca : hey, Victor has been around for some time. guess now he wont be posting so often.
kent : orange is good, a bit tangy, a bit sweet. though slightly artificial taste.
